Our Green Approach

Preserving Elegance uses only completely Natural Eco-Frienldy cleaning solutions. Nothing is more eco-friendly than wet-cleaning with water. Let Preserving Elegance wet-clean your wedding gown for the most thorough cleaning with the least environmental impact. With wet-cleaning, there are no hazardous chemicals used, no air pollution, and no water or soil contamination. Avoid using the toxic chemical approach of Dry Cleaning on your Wedding Gown. Our Museum Method - Muslin Gown Wrap gown preservation package is also the "Greenest" most natural Gown preservation method available.

Wet Cleaning Process V.S. Dry Cleaning

The reason to choose a wet-cleaning system over dry-cleaning is obvious. It’s safer. For you, for me, for our children and the environment. Perchloroethylene (PERC) is a toxic substance. It is dangerous to human and animal health and it harms the very environment we depend upon. Preserving Elegance uses no solvent based cleaners, no PERC, so the used end water is harmless as opposed to toxic. We use less energy because water is heated on demand (instead of being maintained in a hot water storage tank) and steam resulting from this process is utilized further down the line.

Warnings of using a Dry-Cleaner

According to the EPA, over-exposure to 'Perc' (Perchloroethylene - toxic chemical used by dry cleaners to clean you clothes) can lead to headaches, dizziness, skin and eye irritation and other health effects, including an increased risk of cancer. Seniors, young children and pregnant women are especially vulnerable. Perc leaves a smell of petrochemical residue. Most people find it distasteful, but some people that suffer from asthma or odour sensitivities find it can make them sick. Perc is a petroleum byproduct and it is toxic to the environment. It’s colorless and clear so it’s not apparent when it ends up in our soil or water ways. Additionally, dry cleaners use chlorinated solvents, acetic acid, hydrogen peroxide, ammonia and petroleum naptha to clean stains and for other dry cleaning processes. These chemicals are also toxins. The environment is contaminated with these toxins via air born exposure. It also ends up in our soil and waterways.
